Corner Office - Kasper Rorsted - E-Mail Can’t Replace Interaction, Says Henkel’s Chief - Question - NYTimes.com → nytimes.com

I love Corner Office interviews. Kasper Rorsted has great points about overusage of e-mail (totally one of the few issues I had at my internship) and the importance of the person & their experiences (as opposed to their GPA).

Forced to Be Fat → marieclaire.com

Loving how the way a woman’s body ‘should be’ is so commonly shaped by what the men of the culture ‘want’.

my father is funny
  • I woke up at 730, and could not fall back asleep. I decided to cook for the Central Park picnic today.
  • me: Mom? Mom is that you?
  • father: Who's there?
  • me: *turns around* oh, dad.
  • father: ... *looking around* Did you get hungry?

Marisa Lynch set herself a challenge: Transform 365 unattractive frocks in 365 days, for $365. This links to an awesome article! Check out her blog (it’s at the end of the article) This is too great!

All those wonderful fabrics and patterns! Makes me miss my sewing machine.

“The competition between Columbia and N.Y.U. is an example of what educational institutions should not be doing. Universities should be looking for new ways to provide high-quality education to more students at a lower price. In today’s world, it no longer makes sense for every school to cover every subject.” —

Op-Ed Contributor - Universities Are Heading Toward Academic Bankruptcy - NYTimes.com

There’s so much I can say about the ridiculous cost of private education but where would one even start? Let’s just say although there are a lot of opportunities today, private education is still very much a privilege of the wealthy.

If Men Could Menstruate → haverford.edu

feministdiary:

If Men Could Menstruate by Gloria Steinem

EVERYONE should read this!

It is oh, so very true, I think.

Amusing, and a good point about oppression.

potluckdream3r:

One day I want to try this style of art by Alexa Meade.  She paints on real people so that they look like paintings!  So cool!! :  D

“If you have, or if you are near a pet and/or other animal, pretend they are a dinosaur trying to eat you. You will become quite stimulated by the pretend chace. Better yet, travel to africa, find a tiger/lion/liger, and try to fight it. This will be sure to wake you up. If that doesnt work, then you are probably dead. Nothing says wake the fuck up like darwinean natural selection. Good luck, and god’s speed kind sir.” —

What do you to wake yourself up at work when you are dragging? | Answerbag

“If you truly believe that the demographics of Hunter represent the distribution of intelligence in this city, then you must believe that the Upper West Side, Bayside and Flushing are intrinsically more intelligent than the South Bronx, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Washington Heights. And I refuse to accept that.” —

Diversity Debate Engulfs Hunter High in Manhattan - NYTimes.com

I think the issues here parallel with the issues in bigger, private institutions/universities.
