Admit it, you laughed.
The accountant e-mails me the stuff I need for financial aid and always ends his e-mails with: for you ruse. Hey, sir! My name is not Ruse!

The Benefits of Ignorance, Hal Sirowitz
If ignorance is bliss, Father said, shouldn’t you be looking blissful? You should check to see if you have the right kind of ignorance. If you’re not getting the benefits that most people get from acting stupid, then you should go back to what you always were— being too smart for your own good.

At Stuyvesant, Interpreting Parent-Teacher Night →
It’s great to see a volunteer effort like this at Stuy, especially because it becomes harder for parents to keep track of their children’s academics in high school. I remember in elementary school a lot of the Asian parents would have an older sibling translate. While someone may be fluent (or near fluent) in two languages, translating between them back and forth is a totally different...

For the Dishwasher’s Sake, Go Easy on the... →
I can’t believe an article like this even has to be written, and yet, currently this article is the #1 e-mailed article in the Your Money section of NYTimes.com. After my initial reaction, I can’t say I’m surprised though. I’ve had a suitemate in college flood our kitchen with soapy water. She of course was too busy to check and clean it up, though. Too bad mommy...

The 11 Most Blatant Product Placements In Lady... →
I feel like what was blatantly obvious about the product placement was that it was there to make a statement about said form of advertising, especially with the inclusion of Wonder Bread and Miracle Whip, both of which I would say need very little advertising if any at all.

Google’s Computing Power Refines Translation Tool →
I find it hard to imagine a time when artificial intelligence translations will be just as good as those done by people (who know what they’re doing, of course). Google has, however, always surprised me. I still have my doubts though. There are some things that I feel humans will always do better.

Bank of America to End Debit Overdraft Fees →
About time. It’s ridiculous to be fined (a) for spending money you don’t even have and (b) when you apparently won’t have money to pay the fine anyway.

Hire interns to run your social media? Not so... →
thedapaffect: A wonderful little blog article on why expecting college age interns to run your social media campaigns is not the best idea. There are certainly some interesting points worth considering here. Interesting article, especially because one of my marketing classes has my group and me doing social media marketing for a small business in Andover. There have definitely been some bumps...

Jonah Lehrer reports on a theory on how depression helps the mind hone in on and solve problems that may be the cause of said depression in the first place.
